Members of the Historischer Verein Wolfratshausen e.V. and the Siedlungsgemeinschaft Waldram joined forces to save the historic building on Kolpingplatz from demolition and to set up a place of encounter and documentation there. Testimonies of Waldram’s history were collected to make them accessible to the public. In more than 17,000 volunteer hours, the building was completely renovated and transformed into a museum with professional help as well as state and municipal funding.   Today, the BADEHAUS, which opened in 2018, is a living place of remembrance, encounter and learning. A place where different generations, nations and religions come into conversation. Guided tours, events and projects are run by the association on a voluntary basis. At the BADEHAUS place of remembrance, we not only strengthen the culture of remembrance and history as well as youth and educational work, but also contribute to international understanding. 2012 FOUNDATION Over 17,000 VISITORS to the MUSEUM Over 55,000 VOLUNTEER HOURS 250 TOURS per year Over 600 MEMBERS OBJECTIVE: a vibrant place of memory, meeting and learning PURPOSE: maintaining and operating the BADEHAUS memorial site OBERMAYER AWARD 2022 Internationally renowned award for outstanding commitment to preserving Jewish history and combating prejudice in today’s world.  TOP 50 GERMAN ENGAGEMENT AWARD 2022 They clean rivers, train children, fight racism, visit sick people, or care for a monument – the approximately 29 million committed volunteers in Germany. The German Engagement Prize honors them in their diversity and celebrates them – as the prize of prizes. We came in 42nd place in the public vote. ACTIVE FOR DEMOCRACY AND TOLERANCE 2022 The aim of the competition is to highlight and honor civic engagement, which makes an important contribution to consolidating our democracy and to peaceful coexistence in our society. “GRÜNER WANNINGER” 2023 The alternative culture award of the Upper Bavarian district parliamentary group BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN is intended to encourage people not to give up and to set visible priorities away from commercialism and the spirit of the times. BRIDGE BUILDERS AWARD of the SPD parliamentary group 2023 The award is presented to those who have shown great commitment to the needs of refugees, displaced persons and ethnic German repatriates, and who have worked hard to promote understanding. WALK OF FAME WOLFRATSHAUSEN 2022 With brass plaques embedded in the ground, the Walk of Fame in front of the Loisachhalle in Wolfratshausen honors individuals and organizations who with their extraordinary achievements have made the town of Wolfratshausen known far beyond its borders. SPARKASSEN CIVIC AWARD 2022 Young volunteers shape a modern society worth living in. The Sparkassen Citizens Award of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen supports, recognizes and rewards this voluntary commitment. The “Young Badehäusler” came in 3rd place. SEAL FOR EXCELLENT COMMITMENT 2022 & 2023 The seal recognizes the exceptional performance of volunteer projects.
